PROFILE OF THE FIRM
AWA Design has been established in Stamford and the firm was originally incorporated, in 1971 as Bertram Lee Whinston Architects, P.C. as a Professional Corporation to practice Architecture in the State of Connecticut. The name of the Corporation was changed to AWA Design Group, P.C. in 1992.
The firm is licensed and insured to provide Architectural services in the States of Connecticut and, New York. The firm has never defaulted on a contract and failed to complete any work awarded.
Our practice has been general, designing a wide variety of building types for new construction and modernization. Our completed work has demonstrated our ability in planning, design, contract documents, accurate cost estimating, and project observation, as well as timely design and completion within the budget. With our consultants, we have the ability, experience, and staff to meet the rigid time schedules.
We are thoroughly familiar with Building, Fire, Health, Safety, and State/Federal ADA codes and also have broad experience in liaison with public agencies, Construction Documents, Contracts, Public Bidding, and Construction observations.
We have extensive experience in delivering Architectural and Engineering services, both in the public and private sectors. We have provided services for a large variety of buildings, including retail, commercial, institutional, schools, industrial, recreational, and residential.
We have had experience in delivering these services with various non-profit organizations and community-based groups. In the private sector we are the Architects for Residential Communities like: “Ainslie Square”, “The Village at River Edge”, “Maple Pointe”, “Vine Meadow”,” Liberty Commons”, “Heatherwood”, “Stonegate”, “Royal Pavilion” “Strawberry Woods”, “Mallards Landing” and “Riverwalk”, and many others developments mid‑rise, high-rise, cluster and individual housing.
Also, we are and have been the Architects for the Housing Development Fund and The Housing Authority of the City of Stamford, for the rehabilitation of roofs, windows, elevators, concrete and masonry restoration, siding, fencing, plumbing, heating, electric, etc. for Stamford Manor, Southfield Village, Czescik Homes, William C Ward Homes, Lawnhill Terrace, Quintard Terrace, Glenbrook Manor, and Clinton Manor.
